This painting exhibited an aged and oxidised varnish layer which was obscuring the hues used by the artists as well as extensive past and altered retouchings covering losses of the paint layer. Such altered retouching and overpaint were also cleaned and losses were reintegrated using scientific methods of pictorial integration.
