Conservation-Restoration of the painting of the Holy Virgin with Child, bearing the coat of arms of Bailiff Fra Philipp-Wolfgang von Guttenberg (1647-1733). Fra Philip Wolfgang von Guttenberg, is thus, in most probability, the donor of the painting. It is therefore likely that the painting was executed between the late 17th century and early 18th century.
This canvas painting was in a very severe state prior to treatments. Old patches at the back were concealing lacunae in the original canvas whereas the paint and preparatory layer were detaching from the canvas support. Treatments included consolidation, tear repair, inlays of canvas losses, relining treatment, thinning down of the oxidised varnish layer and integration of losses.
